Curriculum Consultant – EYFS & KS1 (South)

Our National Centre based in Huddersfield provides a wide range of services and products to nurseries and schools across the whole of the UK and we have as strong online presence.

This post is a highly-rewarding, fast paced role at the heart of school improvement and training in early years 2-7yrs. It requires significant experience, expertise and passion for school improvement and an understanding of staff development strategies that secure rapid improvement. The role is set within the culture of a modern business environment and is fully supported by a professional team. It is a challenging, fast-paced role that requires a love of travel, an ease of communication and highly efficient organisational, IT and social media skills.

Role Overview

As part of the Curriculum Team, to be responsible for the development and delivery of training and consultancy services, building relationships with and supporting LAs, Academy Trusts and groups of schools/settings.

The post is focused on the delivery of CPD services to schools, mainly YN, YR & Y1 with classroom planning and support for school / setting refurbishment a significant part of the role along with the development of educational and social content for online products and community forums.

Specific Actions of Curriculum Consultant

This role reports to the Head of Regional Development and involves a full range of training and consultancy duties including face to face and online training, EYFS and/or KS1 reviews, in school support as well as offering expert guidance in all forms from articles, blogs, podcasts, videos and the use of SM platforms.

As a Curriculum Consultant your work requires you to:

  • Be an ambassador for Early Excellence upholding the principles, practice and provision on which the organisation is founded.
  • Be fully up to date with all the latest policy Affecting EYFS & KS1; DfE/Ofsted/ Research, etc
  • Be a proactive part of the Curriculum Team, helping to build and sustain the team feeling and support
  • Assist in business development, identifying key players and building relationships with schools, academy chains and LAs, in order to provide services that meet their improvement and training needs.
  • Support schools in need of rapid improvement, helping to deliver bespoke support and training to improve practice as well as plan and refurbish environments, indoors and out.
  • Develop and/or lead bespoke projects online and face to face, travelling as needed across the country to schools  and settings.
  • Plan and present training at all levels including headteacher meetings, phase leader briefings and practitioner courses, as required.
  • Plan and support the development of online products, online training and support materials.
  • Write promotional materials to advertise courses/ events and be an active user of social media to promote events and success.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Qualified Teacher / BEd Hons or BA + PGCE (age 3-7yrs)
  • 10 years school-based teaching experience in Early Years and KS1
  • Experience of leadership role such as EY Leader
  • Held a senior role such as an Assistant Head for at last 5yrs
  • Had significant experience of supporting schools (esp. YR & Y1) as an MAT Lead, LA Adviser, Independent Consultant or Trainer
  • Proven depth of knowledge about child development, assessment, data, practice and provision in the Early Years and/or KS1
  • Confident, dynamic communicator having an ease with people and proactive at building relationships
  • Confident user of IT, current technology, school assessment systems, social media and other online products
  • Able to write to develop blogs and other advice pieces / training products
  • Driver, own car with business class1 insurance able and willing to travel extensively
  • Located centrally, near to main arteries to South West & South East


Contract Details: 

Location: Home based office, travelling extensively
Reporting to: Head of Regional Development
Job Type: Permanent, Fulltime
Terms: Salary Band 50-55k, plus pension contributions
Holiday: 30 days plus bank holidays
